Surprise Surgery on Wednesday

You just never know what’s around the corner. I’ve been on a whirlwind tour since Friday, 2/5/10, when I went to see my ob/gyn for abdominal pain in my lower right abdomen for the past 2 weeks. After a CT scan that same day, it turns out there is an ALIEN in my body.

Seriously, I have quite a large mass (6 cm x 8 xm) that I’ve been told is rather rare.  (My other alien, 4+ cm arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in my left frontal lobe, is doing just fine, thank you.) The CT scan of my pelvic region wasn’t really conclusive. At first they thought the mass was originating from my right ovary (not good) but the CT scan shows it might be “communicating” with my appendix or cecum.

I was referred to a surgeon and am scheduled for surgery this Wednesday morning, 2/10/10. No other promises other than “we have to take a look to see what we are dealing with.” It’s always fun to undergo a big surgical procedure with an AVM in my brain but I have full confidence in my surgeon to manage everything. I’m focusing on what I know and not worrying too much about what I don’t know. Just a reminder that it may not be my AVM that does me in! There are other more common problematic health issues. Here’s to a good surgery and outcome.
